51 years ago today (yes, really), recently promoted Huddersfield Town hosted West Bromwich Albion in the First Division. Despite a poor start to the season for both sides, the programme notes promised “a feast of fast, free-flowing football.” 

 

Well, there were goals at the very least, with Ian Greaves’ side running out 2-1 winners. Winger Jimmy Lawson scored the first, before left-back Geoff Hutt found his way onto the scoresheet—one of only four times he would do so during his eight years at Leeds Road.
